A man from Hove has died in mysterious circumstances.
Thomas Howat, 27, of Orchard Road, Hove, was run over in Worthing in the early hours of Saturday (18 June).
Mr Howat was lying in the road – the A259 Wykeham Road – when the accident happened.
But Sussex Police said this morning that it was not clear whether he had been fatally injured before the crash.
The accident happened at about 1.30am when a Volkswagen Beetle ran over Mr Howat.
The VW driver, a 71-year-old woman from Worthing, was unhurt.
Sergeant Jim Stobart said: “We need to establish why Mr Howat was lying in the road and whether he was already injured before the collision.”
