The man who died on the beach in Hove just over a week ago has been named as former BBC executive John Dimick.
Mr Dimick, 52, of York Villas, Hove, looked as though he was asleep when two off-duty doctors saw that he looked off-colour.
They tried to resuscitate Mr Dimick but the father of two was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr Dimick used to be the head of business and marketing for the BBC World Service and more recently ran a number companies in Brighton.
He was reported to have had a drink problem and to have fallen into debt.
His plight echoes that of former BBC newsreader Ed Mitchell who became an alcoholic and was found sleeping on the beach in Brighton.
Mr Mitchell, 57, no longer drinks.
Mr Dimick’s death, on Saturday 2 July, is believed to have been caused by organ failure as a result of heavy drinking.
I am very sorry to find out about John and the circumstances of his sad demise and being found on Hove beach. I worked for him part-time from 1992 for about ten years.
Kind regards,
Josie
