An unemployed Southwick man admitted having thousands of child porn pictures on his computer when he appeared in court yesterday (Thursday 19 January).
John Anthony Sergeant, 61, of Mile Oak Road, Southwick, appeared on police bail at Worthing Magistrates’ Court.
He pleaded guilty to six offences of having a total of 33,000 computer-held indecent images of children.
Sergeant was bailed to return to the same court on 14 February.
The case follows an investigation by the Sussex Police Paedophile On-Line Investigation Team (POLIT).
The charges do not involve allegations of any direct contact with the children in the pictures and none of the images are believed to be pictures of local children.
