A Hove pensioner has been arrested over claims that he sexually abused a young boy 30 years ago.
The 69-year-old man is accused of committing the offences in Brighton and Havant in 1981.
He has been released on police bail until Tuesday 29 May while detectives carry out further inquiries.
They appealed for anyone who was involved with a now-closed cycle speedway club, in Havant, Hampshire, to come forward.
The club operated for several years in the late 1970s and early 1980s next to Oak Park Senior School.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: “Although every case is assessed on its individual merits, we will always follow up allegations of sexual abuse of children regardless of how long ago they are said to have happened.
“Anyone who wants to report alleged offending of this type can always contact us at any time via 101 and talk in confidence to specially trained detectives.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police by dialling 101 or calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
UPDATE: Michael Green has since been convicted by a jury of sexually abusing boys.
