More snow is falling on Brighton and Hove and as temperatures drop the flurries are expected to become heavier.
Light rain earlier helped to melt some of the snow which fell over Friday and the weekend.
And the Met Office forecast for today (Tuesday 22 January) suggested that the minimum temperature was likely to be just above freezing. It has since said that up to 2in of snow could fall.
The fresh snow is falling on existing snow and ice and wet roads and pavements which may make driving conditions more hazardous in the evening rush hour.
It is not expected to warm up until late on Friday (25 January) or early on Saturday (26 January).
The train operator Southern is operating a revised timetable today. First Capital Connect said that it was operating a normal timetable.
Brighton and Hove Buses said that all its services were running normally but on Twitter it said that it was aware of the fresh snowfall and would update its website with any changes.
