Former Brighton footballer charged with making homophobic gesture to Albion fans
A former Brighton and Hove Albion footballer has been charged with making a homophobic gesture to fans during a match at Falmer.
Colin Kazim-Richards, 26, is accused of making the gesture during at the Amex Community Stadium when Albion played Blackburn Rovers in February.
Kazim-Richards has been summonsed to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 22 August to answer a charge under section 5 of the Public Order Act.
Sussex Police said: “The summons relates to an alleged homophobic gesture that Kazim-Richards made to the crowd when he was playing for Blackburn Rovers in a Championship football match against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on (Tuesday 12 February).”
