A 29-year-old woman was attacked and robbed in Brighton as she walked to a bus stop after a night out with friends.

She was in St James’s Street when a man went up to her and tried to steal her mobile phone out of her hands.

He pushed her to the ground and made off with her black Nokia Lumia 910 mobile phone between 10.35pm and 10.55pm last Wednesday (14 May).

The woman suffered grazes and bruises to her hands and knees and a sprained ankle which required hospital treatment.

Sussex Police said that there was believed to be one suspect who was described as a 6ft 4in tall white man, of average build and aged in his twenties.

He was wearing a dark hooded top and spoke with a foreign accent.
