Thousands of cyclists are pouring into Brighton as they complete Britain’s biggest annual charity bike ride.

About 28,000 people are taking part in the 54-mile London to Brighton Bike Ride organised by the British Heart Foundation.

The first participants set off from Clapham Common at 6am today (Sunday 15 June).

The weather looks set fair with low clouds but no rain forecast and a light northeasterly breeze at their backs. The temperature is in the high fifties to low sixties – or low to mid teens – and could rise to a maximum of 66F or 19C this afternoon.

Brighton and Hove Buses warned passengers to expect delays and disruption to services as a result of road closures and restrictions.

Train company Southern issued a reminder that none of the trains leaving Brighton would be carrying bikes.

Cars heading into Brighton down the A23 were queuing from Pyecombe for long periods.
