Brighton MP helped by hundreds of ‘road trip’ supporters

More than 200 Conservative Party members turned out to help Brighton Kemptown MP Simon Kirby campaign on the doorstep yesterday (Saturday 30 August).

Mr Kirby said beforehand: “The visit is part of the Conservative Party’s Road Trip 2015 campaigning initiative where Conservative volunteers visit a constituency and help the candidate with canvassing and leaflet delivery.

“The Brighton visit has a twist as many of the volunteers will be staying overnight and enjoying all the sights and entertainments that Brighton has to offer.

“I am delighted that I can welcome so many people to our city. The hundreds of volunteers will not only be helping my campaign but having a great time later in the day.

“I will be encouraging everyone to visit the restaurants and cafés of Brighton and to sample everything our great city has to offer.”

    Says green party councillor Charles Hawtree – they do really live in a different world.

    It was the greens that introduced the ‘open door’ policy for travellers based upon their ‘special needs’ and the ‘light touch’ on their law-breaking activities.

    All parties bring in supporters from time to time. However, it is interesting that both Labour and Conservatives have made great play of having to bus in activists for a day. That so few locals turn up demonstrates the lack of local support.

    I guess the Greens are lucky in that they can call on support from the University Students every time an election comes around.Another lot of new faces to Bus or Cycle down the Red Carpet that used to be known as Lewes Rd
