A police spokeswoman said a 999 call was received at 2.30pm reporting a woman had been hit by the junction with Morley Street.

Traffic was reportedly backing up because of the incident but as of 3.20pm the road was clear.

Sussex Police said the victim was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital while another person had been arrested and remained in custody.

I witnessed this actual accident and the whole event was quite surreal. After she was hit everyone just stood around like penguins. It was disturbing to see the true nature of people in life and death situations. I tried to help her that day along with a few others including a doctor who was luckily passing by. We were telling her she’d be fine and the doc supported her neck and asked her a few questions. She had an egg sized bruise on her head, blood on her face and trivial cuts here and there. Eventually an ambulance came, assisted her and took her to the Royal Sussex county hospital.

What I’m left not knowing is whether she survived or received any serious injuries. I hope she recovered swiftly and abandoned the apparent idiots she had been associating herself with.
