A 75-year-old woman was attacked and robbed in Portslade this morning.

The woman was shopping in Boundary Road around 9.50am when she was approached by three men. One pushed her to the ground and her handbag was stolen. The men ran off north up Boundary Road.

Detective Sergeant Chris Lane said: “This was a cowardly and callous attack on a lone elderly victim and we are determined to find her attackers.

“The road was busy with shoppers at the time and we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have seen the three men in the area beforehand or running way afterwards. Please call 101 quoting serial 330 of 18/02 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

A 22-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of robbery and remained in custody on Wednesday afternoon.
