Scores of volunteers are planning a surprise at Churchill Square to celebrate ten years of getting people in Brighton and Hove to be more active.
The city council’s Active for Life team will be running activities and giving out information about the project outside the shopping centre next Sunday, 15 March.
In addition they will be holding a flashmob at 2pm to mark ten years since Active for Life started delivering community sports development across the city.
A series of workshops have been put in place in preparation for the flashmob, including sessions at The Crew Club in Whitehawk, City College and a final workshop on Saturday 14 at The Marina Studios (5-6pm).
This is an open session for anyone 14 years and above. Around 60 participants have attended these sessions and have all been invited to come along on the day.
The team will be joined by partners Exercise, Move, Dance in the South and Azontobeats and also some of the Active for Life Ambassadors.
The ambassadors are people who have been recognised for their involvement with the project and who are great role models for those trying to lead a more active lifestyle.
Tanya Burbidge, Active for Life volunteer ambassador, said: “I am very proud to be an ambassador for Active for Life and the Sports Development team as it gives people from different age groups the chance to get involved in sport.
“What Active for Life has achieved in a number of different communities across the city, especially within the deprived areas over the past 10 years is truly amazing.”
