1) Before Dale Stephens goal no Albion player had found the net for 36 days or 6 matches and almost 10 hours on the pitch
2) If Albion win both their remaining games against Watford and Middlesbrough they can accumulate 52 points. Millwall can only achieve 49 points . The Lions have to play Blackburn away then play-off chasing Derby at home and finally Wolves away . Wolves are currently just 3 points outside the play-offs
3) However, if Milwall lose at Blackburn at Tuesday evening (21 April ) Albion are safe, unless Millwall then won their remaining two games 11-0 or calculation that overcomes a goal difference of the 22 they are behind the Seagulls . And of course if Albion fail to get another point. A draw for Millwall at Blackburn would mean the Seagulls would need just one more point to be mathematically safe.
4) Wigan can only catch Rotherham with or without the latters possible points deduction . Millwall mathematically can still catch Rotherham, Albion , Reading and even Fulham. But would again require a spectacular overhaul of goal difference to catch the Cottagers. Only Millwall can open the trap door for Albion.
5) If Albion do survive as expected. It will be the clubs fifth consecutive season in The Champonship and the longest consecutive tenure in the second tier in the clubs history .
