A widow returning from her husband’s funeral on Friday (17 April) faced further heartache when she found her home in Barnett Road, Brighton, had been burgled and her car stolen.
Thieves had broken into the property between 5.30pm and 9.30pm while the funeral service and wake were being held, ransacking rooms and stealing jewellery and cash.
They then found the keys to victim Paula Palmer’s grey Kia Ceed car parked at the front of the house and took the vehicle to make good their escape. The car, registration BJ09 YBK, and the thieves are now being sought.
Mrs Palmer said: “The devastation and invasion into my life is huge. A large amount of jewellery has been taken and with every piece there are sentiments and memories.
“This burglary has drawn out a lot more pain and agony on what was already a very sad day.”
