Firefighters put out blaze at Brighton nature reserve
Firefighters put out a blaze at a nature reserve in the town yesterday (Wednesday 29 April).
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that it was “offering a reminder to the public on how they can help prevent fires in the open after they were called to a fire in Brighton yesterday”.
The fire service said that crews from Preston Circus in Brighton were sent to the incident at a nature reserve near The Avenue in Bevendean at 3.15pm.
Firefighters used specialist mobile equipment to tackle the blaze.
The fire service said: “Fires in the open can be devastating. Every year 66,000 acres of grassland are destroyed by fire.”
