A teenager was attacked in Brighton in broad daylight, Sussex Police said today (Monday 14 September).

The boy was taken to hospital and needed stitches to his ear after the attack at 9am on Thursday 3 September.

The attack happened near the Dyke Road and Old Shoreham Road crossroads.

The force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a 17-year-old boy was assaulted.

“The victim, who lives in Brighton, was put in a headlock before being punched to the ground and further assaulted.

“He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital where he required stitches to his ear.

“An 18-year-old man from Brighton was arrested on suspicion of ABH (actual bodily harm) and released on police bail until (Friday) 23 October.”

PC Ian Noakes said: “There were a number of people who would have seen the assault take place because it was close to a main road and the traffic was busy and slow moving.

“I would like to ask any witnesses to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk.

Another senseless attack on Brighton’s streets.. Every time I pick up the news someone else is in hospital after being attacked, often in broad daylight!

    Not good enough.
