New pictures show how i360 towers over Brighton and Hove

Striking new images of the Brighton i360 taken this week from a drone out at sea provide a glimpse of the future, with the beach building starting to take shape.

The 162m high tower is complete, with the jacking tower and crane now gone, but has yet to be finished with lighting and its glass viewing pod, which has been built in France and is due to arrive in Brighton next month.

The tower, which is being built with a £36m Government loan backed by Brighton and Hove City Council, continues to divide opinion in the city, with vocal opponents criticising it on one hand, but images and news of it being enthusiastically shared and liked on social media.

The first of the anticipated £1m in loan interest repayments has been earmarked to pay for a £2m landscaping of the area around the attraction, with the rest paid for by another loan to be repaid by future interest repayments.

First point , the million pound loan repayment earmarked for £2M landscaping project with the rest coming from another loan – from whom ? Second could nobody in England if not Brighton have built the glass viewing pod ?
Third same view from a drone , How much is a drone ?

You’d think they’d have done something about rebuilding the pier standing derelict directly in front of this tower!?!

I made almost the exact same thing on Minecraft two years ago. Originality at its finest. 😉

What an ugly, pointless, out of place blot on the skyline! Hideous!

I live almost opposite and see it out my window everyday.
I’m very excited about it and appreciate already the regeneration it’s created for the area surrounding it.
