A woman was mugged in Brighton after she asked a passer-by for help crossing the road.
The man she approached pushed her over and robbed her, Sussex Police said today (Wednesday 13 July).
The force said: “The woman, who is in her sixties and unsteady on her feet, was nervous about crossing Downs Terrace to go shopping around 10am on Saturday morning (9 July).
“She approached a man and asked for his help but he snatched £20 that she had in her hand and pushed her to the ground before heading off down the hill towards Queen’s Park Road.
“He is described as white, in his late twenties, with brown hair and wearing a grey long-sleeved top and jeans.
“The victim was uninjured, but obviously very shaken, and was helped to her feet by an unknown man and woman.
“Police would like to speak to them or to anyone else who may have witnessed the incident.”
