Brighton and Hove Albion defender to have heart surgery
Brighton and Hove Albion defender Connor Goldson is to have heart surgery after medical tests identified a potential problem.
The 24-year-old is not expected to play for the Seagulls again this season.
The club said: “Brighton and Hove Albion defender Connor Goldson will miss the remainder of the current season.
“Following the club’s routine medical screening protocols, Goldson has been identified as having a possible risk factor from his cardiac screening.
“After seeking expert medical advice, it has been decided for Goldson to have a preventative surgical procedure.”
Albion manager Chris Hughton said: “This is a significant blow for Connor, and also the club, but having taken further medical advice, the best course of action is for him to have preventative surgery.
“We will be without Connor for the rest of the season, which is a big loss for us – but this is absolutely the right course of action.
“We wish him well with his recovery and look forward to him returning for us next season.”
