Suspended Labour official expelled as Brighton and Hove party faces break up

Supporters of the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn have won many of the key positions in the two constituency parties for Brighton Kemptown and Brighton Pavilion.

But a meeting planned in Hove was postponed after a row about anti-semitism was said to have led to the venue declining to host the local party.

The meeting was due to have been held at 11am yesterday (Sunday 5 February) at the Ralli Memorial Hall, a community centre used by Jewish groups, in Denmark Villas, Hove.

But an email from the Labour Party’s regional director Louise Magee on Saturday said: “Dear Delegate, We are very sorry to inform you that the Hove AGM scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday) has to be postponed and will not happen.

“The venue has suddenly become unavailable and it’s too late to find another venue and inform members accordingly.

“We do apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

“We will be in touch soon to let you know when we will be able to reschedule the AGM as we understand this is important to local members.”

In Brighton Kemptown the party has elected Miriam Binder to chair the constituency party, with Lloyd Russell-Moyle as secretary and Colin Piper as treasurer. Libby Barnes was elected vice-chairman (campaigns) and Christine Robinson as vice-chairman (membership).

Lewis Dodgson was elected as auditor and Poppy Burt, Sarah Haddow, Renato Marquez and Aaron Locke were elected as additional members of the executive. Melanie Melvin will be the women’s officer.

In Brighton Pavilion the party has elected Jon Rogers as chairman, Claire Wadey as secretary and Amanda Evans as treasurer. Phil Clarke was elected vice-chairman (campaigns) and James Thompson was elected as vice-chairman (membership).

Tim Wilkinson was elected as auditor and Ian McIsaac, Denise Friend, Theresa Fowler and Anne Thompson were elected as additional members of the executive.

surely this is just conjecture, or the mixing of facts that are totally unrelated.. Just because another group use a space and then the space is denied to another group does not mean that anyone paid or played influence to the cancellation, just bad timing or diary writing and a hot headed red whos too quick to blame someone else for their crap management or organizational skills me thinks..
