A hairdresser who was arrested in Brighton last year faces court today charged with deliberately trying to infect his sexual partners with HIV.
Daryll Rowe, 26, of no fixed address, has been charged with eight counts of causing grievous bodily harm and one count of trying to cause grievous bodily harm.
Rowe, who is in custody, is due to appear by video link before Judge Guy Anthony at Lewes Crown Court this morning (Monday 6 February).
Sussex Police originally arrested him in Brighton. He was due to answer police bail on Friday 18 November but failed to do so.
He was arrested in Wallsend, North Tyneside, by Northumbria Police on Friday 23 December after joint working by Northumbria Police, Police Scotland and Sussex Police.
He was due to appear by video link at Lewes Crown Court a fortnight ago – on Monday 23 January – but the video link hadn’t been booked.
Rowe is expected to stand trial in the week commencing Monday 5 June.
Sussex Police said: “Anyone who thinks they may have had a sexual encounter with this man is urged to come forward and anyone with concerns is encouraged to contact their local sexual health services.”
