A man was taken to hospital with a suspected broken jaw after being attacked in London Road last week.
The 26-year-old man was assaulted near Boots at around 10.45am on Wednesday by a man wearing a green tracksuit. Police are now appealing for witnesses.
The assault happened just an hour before police were called to another brawl involving metal poles in which it’s rumoured someone was stabbed with a screwdriver – but which police could find no trace of once they arrived.
Officers are not currently linking the two incidents.
The offender is described as a white man, aged mid 20’s, around 5ft 7in of medium build and with short hair. He was wearing green tracksuit.
Witnesses are asked to report information online here quoting reference 889 of 23/02.

I work in London Road. I think they need a police officer down there …. last week a customer said she had just seen two men being chased by police …. one had a knife and the other one had something in his hand .
