A gang of four smuggled women into Britain and forced them to work as prostitutes in Brighton and elsewhere, a London court was told.
The two men and two women booked their victims into budget hotels and charged men £100 an hour, the Central Criminal Court – known as the Old Bailey – heard yesterday (Thursday 31 August).
Eighteen sex workers, trafficked from China and South Korea, were rotated around hotels in Brighton, Gatwick, Maidstone and other parts of the country.
The set up was run by a bulldog breeder called Hong Chin, 45, of Dunstall Hall, Dunstall, in Burton upon Trent, Derbyshire.
His former girlfriend Li Wei Gao, 44, of Heathside, Oakshade Road, in Oxshott, Surrey, helped advertise the women online.
They were helped by taxi driver Wing Yin Yuen, 41, of Palace Square, Crystal Palace, London, and Ting Li Lu, 47, a beautician, of Somers Road, Portsmouth.
The defendants were arrested in June 2015 after an operation by Sussex Police and charged two months later.
The offences were alleged to have taken place over a two-year period before the four defendants were arrested.
They all deny all the charges.
The trial before Judge Philip Katz is due to continue in court 12 today (Friday 1 September).
