Pupil approached by unknown man near Brighton school

Police are investigating an approach to a pupil by an unknown man near a Brighton school.

And they asked parents to remind their children about stranger danger in light of the incident.

Sussex Police said this afternoon (Friday 5 January): “Police are investigating an incident involving a pupil being approached by a unknown man on a footpath close to a Brighton school on Wednesday (3 January).

“This was reported to have happened at around at 9.30am on a path close to Stringer Way near to Dorothy Stringer School.

“Police are treating this as an isolated incident but would like to take this opportunity to remind students and parents about personal safety while travelling to and from school.

“The man is described as white, 6ft, of skinny build, aged in his thirties, with stubble, short dark brown hair and wearing a light grey beanie hat, dark grey jogging bottoms, trainers and a black gilet.

“He spoke with a local accent.

“If anyone witnessed the incident or has information, please contact police online or ring 101 quoting 490 of 03/01.”
