Hove firefighters are bringing a fire engine to the area’s main shopping street tomorrow (Saturday 10 March).
The event, in George Street, is the first in a series aimed at encouraging families to shop locally in the pedestrianised area.
It has been organised by the Save George Street campaign with help from Station Manager Paul Coppard, of East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
He and his team will have one ear out for their radios though as they will be on call.
Otherwise the crew will be in George Street from 11am to 2pm, giving youngsters something extra to do as they shop for Mother’s Day cards and presents.
The campaign have also been working with Central Hove ward councillors Andrew Wealls and Clare Moonan on events and other ways to ensure George Street thrives.
A member of the Save George Street campaign said: “It is small events like this in George Street that it is hoped would attract more families to the street, making it more fun and a better shopping experience for the community and for all visitors to the street.”
