Three men arrested after taxi driver robbed in Hove
Three men have been arrested after a taxi driver was reported to have been kidnapped in Hove yesterday (Monday 22 April).
The cabbie was allegedly taken to cash machines to draw out money.
A police chase followed – and ended with three men being arrested in Graham Avenue, Portslade.
Sussex Police said: “At about 5.45pm on Monday (22 April), police were called to a report of a robbery involving a taxi driver in Portland Road, Hove.
“Officers pursued the vehicle to Graham Avenue in Mile Oak, where three suspects were arrested.
“A 21-year-old man, of no fixed address, arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault and being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug (cannabis), remains in custody at this stage.
“A 21-year-old man from Hove, arrested on suspicion of robbery and being concerned in the supply of a Class B drug (cannabis), remains in custody at this stage.
“A 21-year-old man from Southwick, arrested on suspicion of robbery, possession with intent to supply a Class B drug (cannabis) and obstructing a police officer, remains in custody at this stage.”
North Portslade Labour councillor Peter Atkinson, who has been campaigning about anti-social behaviour, said: “Although the arrests were made in Graham Avenue, in Mile Oak, this isn’t linked to any ongoing anti-social behaviour in the area.”
