1) Brighton and Hove Albion are eighth in Premier League. Manchester United are fourteenth. Albion are six places ahead. On the equivalent date in 1999, United were 77 places ahead.

2) In the past seven years there has been an approximate 67 per cent drop in middle-aged men and youths parading around Brighton and Hove in replica Manchester United shirts.

3) In 2004 Sir Alex Ferguson wrote a letter of support to the then Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott imploring him to grant Albion permission to build a stadium at Falmer.

4) Albion beat Manchester United at the Goldstone Ground three days after Channel 4’s Countdown started in November 1982. A further 12,971 days passed until Albion beat them again – in May last year.

5) Albion have never won at Old Trafford, drawing there in 1981 and 1983.
