It is with great regret that I have to inform Lewes concert goers that two concerts that were taking place this weekend at the popular Con Club have been cancelled!
The events affected are King Kurt on Saturday 30th November and Spizzenergi on Sunday 1st December. At this moment in time The Curst Sons concert on Friday 29th November is not affected, but best check directly with the venue on Tel: 01273 473076.
The cancellations have come about apparently due to line closures at Lewes Railway Station from Thursday 28th November to Sunday 1st December. Many punters arrive at the venue by train from Brighton and surrounding areas, and thus there would be the difficulty of getting to the venue and home again for these concerts.
The Southern network closure is explained on their www.southernrailway.com website as “The signal boxes at Lewes, Newhaven Town and Newhaven Harbour will close and the signalling control of the line move to our state-of-the-art route operating centre at Three Bridges.
The project will be replacing old signalling equipment and replacing it with more modern, more reliable technology, which means there will be fewer delays for passengers in this area”.
Hopefully plans are afoot to organise rescheduled dates for these cancelled concerts. Check the options with your ticket supplier regarding a new date or refunds etc.

I guess a years notice of the closure was a bit lacking – NOT!
