Hove man hunted by police for return to prison

Andrew Charles

A reward of £500 is on offer as police hunt for a wanted man from Hove so that they can return him to prison.

Andrew Charles

Sussex Police said: “Police are offering a £500 reward for information leading to the arrest of wanted man Andrew Charles.

“The 52-year-old is described as black, 5ft 9in, of proportionate build and with brown eyes.

“His last known address was in Hove and he was released from prison in December part way through a four-month sentence for dishonest handling.

“However, the probation service now requires his return to prison for breaching the terms of his release licence.”

Charles was jailed for 18 weeks for handling stolen goods after he was found to have driven a Toyota Yaris that was stolen from outside a pensioner’s house in Stirling Place, Hove.

He was also convicted of driving it without insurance in Dartford, Kent, heading towards Essex, on the same date in April last year.

Sussex Police added: “Officers have been making inquiries in the Brighton and Hove area but also believe Charles may be in the Loughton area of Essex or the Leyton area of London where he has connections and have been liaising with colleagues in those areas.

“Anyone who has seen Charles, or who has any information on his whereabouts, is asked to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 38 of 22/02.

“You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
