A sex attacker has been targeting women after they have been exercising on Hove seafront and recent incidents have been linked to others last year and in 2023.
Sussex Police published three CCTV pictures of a man they want to interview today (Thursday 13 November).
The force said: “Police are looking to identify this man in connection with reports of sexual assaults in Hove.
“An investigation is ongoing into reports of women being approached by a man on Hove Lawns and the surrounding area while they were exercising, or resting post-exercise.
“The suspect is reported to have engaged the victims in conversation – typically between 4.30am and 9.30am – before sexually assaulting them over their clothing.
“Recent incidents have been linked to previous reports received in 2023 and 2024, which were subject to thorough investigation and the arrest of a suspect who was released with no further action taken.
“Descriptions from the victims commonly describe the suspect as bald and in his forties, with a Spanish or Italian accent and often wearing exercise clothes.
“Anyone who recognises him, or has any information that could help the investigation, is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting Operation August.”
Detective Inspector Jenny Pietersen said: “Public safety is our priority and proactive inquiries are under way to identify this individual.
“The seafront is subject to increased patrols and we are working hard with our partners to keep women and girls safe in our communities.
“I urge anyone who may have witnessed any offences similar to the above or who recognises the man pictured to make contact with us.
“We remain in contact with all the victims who have reported incidents to us and there is nothing to suggest any increased risk to women along the seafront at this time.
“As always, our officers will be providing a visible presence across the city and anyone with concerns can engage directly with an officer via 111 or by calling 999 in an emergency.”

Sussex police need to pay for at the very least 2 plain clothes officers to patrol Brighton and central hove beach in the evening to early morning. This stuff is in the paper every week now.
