A hammer-wielding robber from Hove has been jailed again – this time for drug driving in a stolen car.
Jack Reeder, 34, of Seafield Road, Hove, was jailed for almost three years in July after he robbed two shops, threatening staff in one of them with a hammer.
Sussex Police said: “A serving prisoner has had his sentence increased after being convicted of further offences.
“Jack Reeder is currently serving 34 months’ imprisonment for robbery at the Co-op, in Ham Road, Shoreham, on Saturday 10 May.
“While in custody, detectives investigated a report of a car stolen from Bushby Close, Lancing, in the early hours of Thursday 27 March.
“The vehicle activated a number of ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) cameras and was pursued to Saltdean where the driver decamped.
“Following a short search by officers, assisted by excellent tracking and detaining by Police Dog Hox, the driver was located and identified as Reeder, 34, of Seafield Road, Hove.

“He failed a roadside test for cocaine and cannabis and also assaulted an officer in custody.
“He was subsequently arrested and charged with
- aggravated vehicle taking
- failing to stop when required by police
- theft of a vehicle
- two counts of drug driving
- driving without valid insurance
- assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty
“Reeder was presented before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 29 October where he pleaded guilty to all offences and was sentenced to a total of 24 weeks’ imprisonment to run consecutively to his existing sentence.
“He was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 18 months.”
