A motorcyclist crashed into a young man’s car during a police chase in Hove this morning (Wednesday 8 April).
The crash happened in Bramber Avenue, Hangleton, shortly before midday when the rider of a black Honda Forza 350 crashed into a blue Ford Fiesta, driven by an 18-year-old, from Hove.
The motorbike appears to be untaxed although it is not clear whether this was why the police wanted to stop the rider.
The motorbike rounded a bend at the top of Bramber Avenue and crossed on to the wrong side of the road, consistent with taking the bend too fast.
The scooter hit the car which appeared to be moving up the hill slowly and damaged the driver side front wing and bonnet.
No injuries have been reported.
The rider ran off down Bramber Avenue, with a police officer in pursuit. The fugitive was seen crossing the green at Amberley Close, heading towards Amberley Drive.
The police were reported to be driving a grey Toyota Corolla which does not appear to have been damaged during the incident.
One witness said that the police car was not using blue lights or a siren at the time of the crash.
Sussex Police said: “A moped failed to stop for police and was in collision with a parked car in Bramber Avenue, Hove, before the rider fled.
“This happened at about 11.55am on Wednesday 8 April.”
