Bistro chain wants a sign

The old Vurger Company premises in Brighton Place

Restaurant chain Champagne and Fromage has applied to put up new signs as it prepares to open a new restaurant in The Lanes.

The London-based French-style bistro company has applied for planning permission for new signs at the former Vurger Company site, at 13 Brighton Place.

The application is for an externally lit fascia sign, two non-lit external signs, a projecting sign and a window-mounted sign.

Existing sign boards will be painted in Farrow and Ball studio green.

Champagne and Fromage was founded by Stefano Frigerio, 56, and Maud Fierobe, 52, who also import Champagne from small vineyards through their company Dosage.

Currently, the business has six locations – three in London and others in Chester, Harrogate and Bath.

Brighton and Hove City Council published the application on Monday 10 August.

The Vurger Company’s Brighton branch was one of four which closed in February 2024.
