Somerset 202 (58 overs) and 167-2 (50 overs)
Sussex 250 (69.4 overs)
Somerset (3 points) lead Sussex (4 points) by 119 runs with 8 second innings wickets remaining
There was frustration for title challengers Somerset and Sussex at Hove, with no play possible on day three at Hove.
Umpires Jack Shantry and Tom Lungley twice tried to get play under way in mid-afternoon after morning rain only to be thwarted by another shower and, then, following a further downpour, they abandoned play at 4.45pm.
Somerset will go into the final day with a lead of 119 and, with a decent weather forecast, both teams will still fancy their chances of forcing victory.
With leaders Nottinghamshire’s game at Warwickshire heading for a draw, Somerset know that a win would enable them to open up an advantage at the top with four rounds to go.
They currently lead by one point.
