Sense spurs cyclist from Hove to ride for deaf-blind charity

A man from Hove is taking part in an overnight London to Brighton bike ride to raise money for Sense, the charity for deaf-blind children and adults.

Paul McKeown, 29, a sports coach and music promoter, from Albany Villas, will be joined by two friends when he sets out on Friday (29 June).

The trio aim to raise about £1,00.

The Moonriders event is the fifth in a series of 12 challenges being undertaken by Mr McKeown and his friends this year.

They are aiming to raise £12,000 for 12 charities over 12 months.

The ride in aid of Sense coincides with Deaf-Blind Awareness Week, which started yesterday (Monday 25 June) and runs until Sunday (1 July).

He said: “I’m really excited about the challenge, especially cycling past all of London’s iconic landmarks at night without the throng of tourists.

“It will be tough to keep going in the dark especially if the rain sets in but it’s good to know that our challenge will help support deaf-blind people to overcome their own daily challenges.

“I’m definitely looking forward to a well-deserved full English breakfast at the end.”
