Police have arrested a man in connection with a rape investigation in Brighton.

An investigation was launched after a woman in her 30s reported being raped in Old Steine Gardens at around 4am on Sunday, 10 December.

She alerted security staff at a nightclub nearby and police were called. She is now being supported by specialist officers.

A 26-year-old man from Brighton has been arrested on suspicion of rape and released on bail with strict conditions while enquiries continue.

What”s this one getting, therapy in Bermuda ???? Tax payers to foot the bill either way. About time we had an ID system in this country, it does work in the rest of Europe, can be applied to everything, benefits, taxes, car registrations, Bank accounts, NHS doctors, prescriptions, chemists, Jobcentres, housing, lots more. NO ID NO Access. Not good if only certain bodies have their own systems talking with nobody else.

How about appreciating the swift work of the police in getting the suspect identified and arrested in only twelve days, giving the victim peace of mind, support and the hope that justice will be served.

He’s ‘getting’ nothing yet because he hasn’t been found guilty by a jury. He hasn’t actually been charged with a crime at the moment.

Not sure what having an ID system (or not) has to do with this case.

Even in Europe with ID cards there is still crime.

Still nice of you to express your sympathies to the victim here. I’m sure your offer of a gammon sandwich will be most comforting at this trying time for her.

It would make NO difference if anyone had an ID card. SOME Drunk / drugged people at 4am will still act badly .
