County Lines dealer clenched buttocks after his hire car was stopped by police

A dealer who used mobile phones to advertise and operate a drug supply line in Brighton has been jailed.

David Bakare was seen using a hire car in Brighton linked to the supply of heroin and crack cocaine.

Officers from the Specialist Enforcement Unit (SEU) stopped him outside an address in Eastern Road, Brighton.

They noted how the 28-year-old was clenching his buttocks.

His vehicle was searched and drugs were found, so he was arrested.

In custody, officers found wraps of drugs which Bakare had stashed inside himself.

Bakare, of Tadema Road, Kensington, was already under investigation for supplying a psychoactive substance in Brighton in an earlier incident, where he was arrested by Brighton Response officers.

Following an investigation by the Brighton Community Investigation Team (CIT), he was charged with offences.

At Lewes Crown Court on Thursday (4 April) he admitted being concerned in the supply of diamorphine (heroin), being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and supplying a psychoactive substance.

He was sentenced to four years and four months in prison.

The court heard how the first incident happened in Ship Street, Brighton, at 3am on Saturday 17 September 2022. Bakare was seen dealing from the boot of a silver Volkswagen outside a hotel.

He was supplying nitrous oxide from a cannister and was arrested.

Then between November 2023 and Tuesday 16 January this year, Bakare was linked to operating the “Snoop” drugs line in Brighton.

He was linked to marketing class A drugs in the city.

Officers from the Specialist Enforcement Unit carried out a proactive stop on Tuesday 16 January and noted his odd behaviour as he tried to conceal wraps of heroin.

An address in nearby Lavender Street also identified further evidence of drug dealing.

Inspector Ollie Pullen said: “This case shows our determination to disrupt the supply of class A drugs which cause so much harm to our communities.

“This includes working to deny criminals the use of the road network.

“Thanks to a proactive vehicle stop, Bakare was caught in possession of drugs, and our colleagues in the Community Investigation Team worked hard to bring charges.

“Bakare had no choice but to plead guilty when the case came to court.

“We are pleased that a significant drugs operation in Brighton has now been shut down.”

They should legalise all drugs and get revenue for them.
This will cut out the crimes the drug gangs commit.
If we didn’t have idiots elected into power this would be a reality.
The economy is a huge and important business so we shouldn’t have clueless idiots in place chosen in a popularity contest by an idiotic electorate that believe the torrent of lies they come out with.

FYI Drugs create even more idiocy, crime and MH issues.
      Drugs are not the answer.

So why are the worst 2 drugs legal?
And why are they legalising puff in Germany and USA?

I agree with you on this, Barry.

You’d end up with more people taking narcotics, and that would ultimately cause more pressure on healthcare systems, also creating more pressure on the economy in general; sales would not translate into increased healthcare revenue.

So you’d have to tax more, and end up with a more Nordic system, where it’s more aligned to a 50% on all earnings. And that’s just one minor chain of thought on legalisation, without touching upon law enforcement.

Unfortunately, there is more to it than what you are proposing, Helen.

Could someone at the newspaper please delete the vile message above? Drug dealers inflict absolute horrors on our communities, but we do not execute people in this country, and nobody should be calling for another person’s death. Ever. Let’s also remember that even within the abject degradation and violence that drug dealers cause, they themselves are also messed-up human beings.

The so called experts on drugs always say cannabis/marijuana is a gateway drug, a gateway to what I ask ? Harder drugs ? Well, how come I know someone who has been smoking weed since he was 13 and is now in his late fifties, still smokes weed and has never touched any other drug ! So, cannabis is a gateway to what ? LEGALIZE WEED 👊☮️
