‘We Are Love’ say The Charlatans

The Charlatans

The Charlatans have not only announced the release of their first studio album since 2017, but there’s to be a UK Spring tour as well.

The newbie is titled ‘We Are Love’ and is set to drop on Friday 31st October and sees The Charlatans pushing their sonic boundaries, featuring exciting collaborations with the acclaimed Dev Hynes and renowned producer, Steven Street, promising a fresh yet unmistakably Charlatans sound. The eleven-track collection marks a significant return for the band. The tracklisting reads: ‘Kingdom Of Our’, ‘We Are Love’, ‘Many A Day A Heartache’, ‘For The Girls’, ‘You Can’t Push The River’, ‘Deeper And Deeper’, ‘Appetite’, ‘Salt Water’, ‘Out On Our Own’, ‘Glad You Grabbed Me’ and ‘Now Everything’.

In support of the new album The Charlatans a 10-date UK tour, which includes a concert here in Brighton at the Dome Concert Hall, courtesy of Lout Promotions. The full list of tour dates are as follows, with special guests to be announced soon:

The Charlatans will also be appearing at Resident in Brighton on Wednesday 5th November, where they will be holding a Q&A session as well as signing copies of the album which have been purchased from the store – Further details HERE.

The Charlatans have notched up thirteen Top 40 studio albums – three of them number ones – alongside twenty two hit singles, four of them Top 10. The rollercoaster highs have been accompanied by some shattering lows, any which one of them could have felled a less resilient band, from nervous breakdowns to near bankruptcy and the deaths of two founder members.

Somehow, they have not just carried on but adapted and transformed many times over the years. The classic Charlatans sound – driving Hammond organ, Northern Soul and house-influenced rhythms, swaggering guitars and Tim Burgess’s sunny yet somehow yearning vocal – is instantly recognisable. And in spite of everything they have been through their music is now more relevant than ever, The Guardian described their ‘Different Days’ album as “one of their best ever”.
