Two men charged after cannabis farms found in Portslade

Two men have been charged after police found cannabis farms in two properties in Portslade last week.

The pair, both in their twenties, have appeared in court in Brighton and were both remanded in custody to appear before a crown court judge next month.

Sussex Police said this afternoon (Wednesday 14 January): “Two men have been charged following the discovery of cannabis factories in Portslade.

“On Thursday 8 January, police received a report concerning suspicions that two units in Gordon Mews were operating as cannabis factories.

“Officers were deployed to the location and entered the units where they discovered a large quantity of plants and growing equipment.

“One man was arrested inside the premises. A second man was promptly arrested near by after he was seen leaving the building through a window.

“Following address inquiries, a third man, from Hove, was also arrested.

“Oltian Skarra, 21, and Ervis Marku, 26, both of no fixed address, appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday 9 January, charged with producing a controlled class B drug.

“They have been remanded in custody ahead of their next hearing on Friday 6 February at Lewes Crown Court.

“A 49-year-old man, from Hove, has been released on conditional bail following his arrest on suspicion of being concerned in the production of a class B drug.

“An investigation remains under way and any information that could assist police inquiries can be reported online or by calling 101, quoting reference 341 of 08/01.”
