Step into the extraordinary life of Joseph Merrick in a moving musical that tells the true story of the Elephant Man.
Through powerful songs and heartfelt storytelling, this production shines a light on his courage, humanity and determination to live life on his own terms.
It’s more than a tale of adversity. It’s a celebration of resilience and the universal desire to belong.
A production of the Elephant in the Room was well received at the Brighton Fringe in 2021 – read our review here – and the new production is part of this year’s Fringe festival.
Without giving too much away, let’s just say that this version sticks more closely to the facts than the 1980 film by David Lynch that starred John Hurt.
The Elephant in the Room was written by two members of the Brighton ska band Too Many Crooks – Alan Perry and Bradley Tullett.
And it stars Hove actor Carl Lovejoy who, at the age of 28, has already outlived the character he plays. Joseph Carey Merrick was just 27 years old when he died.
