Brighton and Hove health chiefs ask diabetics for help

Brighton and Hove’s health chiefs are asking people suffering from diabetes to take part in a survey.

The primary care trust (PCT) is reviewing the way diabetics are cared for in the city and wants to hear from those with the condition.

More than 9,000 people locally suffer from diabetes, according to Brighton and Hove City Teaching PCT – also known as NHS Brighton and Hove.

They are of all ages and each differently affected by their condition.

The PCT has put its survey online to get feedback on healthcare and support services since their diagnosis.

The PCT said: “The survey is quick and easy to complete and can help shape how future diabetes services are designed and delivered.”

Lisa Douglas, the PCT’s commissioner for long-term conditions, said: “Obtaining information from as many people as possible is the only way we can get a complete and accurate picture of diabetes care in Brighton and Hove and how satisfied people are with their care.

“The information that patients provide will ensure that their experiences help to influence the future provision of diabetes services in city and will be used to develop care pathways and to target resources to where they are most needed.”

This survey is open to anyone in Brighton and Hove who has diabetes and is 17 or over and can be found here.

The closing date is Thursday 30 September.
