CCTV images have been published showing youths suspected of carrying out an attack on a student in Brighton which left him with a broken jaw.

Sussex Police urged the youths to come forward or anyone who recognises them to contact detectives.

The student, a 20-year-old Italian who lives in Hove, was on a night out with his girlfriend when he was attacked in Air Street, Brighton, near the Clock Tower.

The Brighton University student was walking to a bus stop with his girlfriend when they were confronted by a group of men and women at about 4am on Saturday 15 March.

The victim suffered a broken jaw and had to go to Royal Sussex County Hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Kerri Bartup said: “We need to speak to each of the people in the CCTV footage about what happened to see what they saw and heard.

“This was an unprovoked attack while the victim was trying to get home with his girlfriend.

“If you recognise any of the men in these pictures or know where they are, please contact me.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
