Brighton and Hove residents are being urged to take care this morning as heavy rain and wind hits the south coast.
The deluge has brought minor flooding to the city’s roads, with the eastbound A27 flooding at the dip near the Portslade turn.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that crews were called out to several incidents across the county but just one in the city.
The fire service was called to Sainsbury’s, in Old Shoreham Road, shortly after 9am, but by the time crews arrived the management had made the area safe.
A fire service spokesman said: “While there are no severe weather warnings in place for this area, the Met Office says there will be heavy rain and strong winds throughout today.
“Road users are being reminded to slow down, leave bigger stopping distances and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy.
“Home and business owners are being urged to read up on ways to reduce the chances of flooding.
“Do some research to find out:
- Whether your area has flooded before and if there is any specific flood advice for your area
- How to turn off your electricity and gas supplies
- What is covered by your insurance
- Who you can call if you need assistance.”
At least B&HCC aren’t completely useless at cleaning the drains, and so you never get drains staying blocked for literally years at a time.
