BACA students celebrate 100 per cent A-level pass rate

The Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) has reported a 100 per cent rate at A level today (Thursday 13 August).

More than two thirds of students achieved grades A* to C and 42 per cent achieved the benchmark A* to B – up from 4.2 per cent last year.

The school said: “Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) sixth form students and staff are celebrating A-level and BTEC exam results today as they maintain a 100 per cent success rate for A-level passes at A* to E or equivalent.

“Other results include

  • 68 per cent of qualifications resulted in a grade of A* to C or equivalent (up from 42 per cent last year)
  • 42 per cent secured A levels at A* to B or equivalent (a significant increase from 4.2 per cent last year)
  • 24 per cent secured A levels at A* or A or equivalent (also up from 4 per cent last year)

“Over 64 per cent of students secured three A Levels at A* to E or equivalent grades while 42 per cent of all BTEC grades achieved were the top Distinction* or Distinction.

“Additionally, all students were successful in securing their apprenticeships, university places and careers for the future.

“Each sixth form student achieved exam success with excellent individual performances including

  • Robbie Vaughan completed BTEC ICT, PE and leadership and management courses and is planning to study criminology at Brighton University.
  • Rebecca Hardy completed BTEC health and social care and science courses. She plans to work in the social care industry for a year before starting a midwifery course at university.
  • Kieran Older completed BTEC ICT, sport and cricket and is starting an apprenticeship with a local nursery.
  • Matthew Knifton completed A-level art and BTEC ICT and is looking forward to starting an art foundation degree at City College.

Sixth form head James Collett said: “Students and staff worked extremely hard and deserve their successes.

“These are fantastic results and we are proud that more students are achieving the highest grades.

“We wish our students all the best as they continue to achieve their career aspirations.

“We are also thrilled at the continual increase in the number of students who are choosing to study at BACA 6th Form.

“Offers such as our sports academies and the Brighton Digital Media Academy provide unique opportunities for students to follow their passions alongside academic qualifications and are proving very popular. It’s an exciting place to be and to achieve!”

Fourteen students entered 38 exams, including three A levels. The rest were BTECs.
