The soggy start to the new year in Brighton and Hove is set to continue with more than inch of rain in 24 hours from this morning (Monday 4 January).
And the winds will pick up again at time, with speeds of up to 40 knots (46mph) and gusts of more than 55 knots (63mph) at times over the coming week.
There will be a brief lull in the wet and windy weather on Wednesday (6 January) and Thursday (7 January).
While Brighton and Hove has not suffered the effects of Storm Frank in the same way as other parts of the country, heavy rains have already led to localised flooding.
While the squally downpours are forecast until early next week, the Met Office has not issued any severe weather warnings for Brighton and Hove and the surrounding area.
Temperatures are expected to stay in a narrow range of 46F (8C) to 55F (13C) – above average for the time of year – with little difference between night and day. The wind will make the air seem colder at times.
