Snowdogs auction marks final farewell to fabulous Martlets fundraiser

By Claire Jacobs

Snowdogs across Brighton and Hove have bid their final farewell this week and will each be auctioned off for charity tonight (Tuesday 6 December).

The Snowdogs by the Sea trail across the city has been popular with residents and visitors since it started on Saturday 24 September.

Many residents have posted photographs and videos on social media of their completed trails.

All 44 dogs were displayed at the Corn Exchange in Brighton yesterday (Monday 5 December) and on Sunday so people could see them one last time – and all together – before they are auctioned.

Tickets sold out for the farewell with all proceeds going to the Martlets Hospice.

The auction takes place tonight at the Corn Exchange. Bids can be placed at tonight’s ticketed event, or online via the Snowdogs website from 7pm.

Residents of Hanover have collectively been saving to buy a snowdog and parents of Balfour Primary School children are keen to win Bobby the dog in memory of Niamh, a nine-year-old pupil who died two years ago.

The snowdogs were inspired by the animated film The Snowman and The Snowdog – a sequel to The Snowman by Raymond Briggs. They were each designed by local artists, with 22 pups designed by local schools.

Hi Claire – I made that video and would really appreciate a shout out as I am a very small (trying to be up and coming) local videographer 🙂 My link to face book is here:
