Brighton Gogglebox family prepare to share private passions on public stage

Three members of a family best known for sitting in front of the television and spouting their views are preparing to share their passions on stage for a special club night.

The Michaels, from Brighton, have won fame on the Channel 4 TV show Gogglebox. Now Andrew, Pascal and Louis are to take turns speaking on a subject that they’re passionate about at the Catalyst Club, in Kemp Town.

Although the Catalyst is billed as a literary salon, the Michaels are expected to ensure an entertaining and down to earth evening at the Latest Music Bar, in Manchester Street, Brighton, when they take to the lectern next week.

Each of them will give a 15-minute talk followed by a question and answer session at the event which runs from 8pm to 11pm.

Catalyst founder and compere David Bramwell, who has hosted more than 500 Catalyst talks, said that the Michaels’ choice of subject matter might surprise some people.

He declined to say what their subjects were – so as not to spoil the surprise.

The club nights are, he said, “the antithesis of the TV programme Room 101. The news can be sobering and depressing so we share something we love.

“It’s an unashamed celebration of people’s passions.”

With such an opinionated trio taking to the stage, he added: “It promises to be a lively evening.”

Tickets cost £7 plus a 70p booking fee from https://www.wegottickets.com/event/391883.
