Deaths reported in London Bridge ‘terror attack’

Deaths and injuries have been reported in what has been described as a terror attack on London Bridge shortly after 10pm this evening (Saturday 3 June).

The Metropolitan Police said that a white van mounted the pavement at London Bridge hitting a number of pedestrians. More than one person is said to have died.

Three men who had been in the van appear to have gone into nearby Borough Market where a stabbing or stabbings were reported and shots were reported to have been fired.

According to the BBC, a witness reported seeing three men stabbing people.

The Met also tweeted about a third incident in Vauxhall although it later said that this was an unconnected stabbing.

Shortly afterwards Transport for London said that Vauxhall Underground Station had reopened. London Bridge was one of at least four railway stations to remain closed.

In a statement the Met said: “From 10.08pm (Saturday) 3 June officers responded to reports of a vehicle in collision with pedestrians on London Bridge.

“Officers have then responded to reports of stabbings in Borough Market. Armed officers responded and shots have been fired.

“Officers are now responding to an incident in the Vauxhall area.

“We will release facts when we can – our info must be accurate.

“We urge the public to remain calm, but be alert and vigilant.

“To anyone near an incident our advice is Run – Hide – Tell.”

The filtering of callers and broadcasting of witness accounts being conveyed to Stephen Nolan by BBC Five Live was really superb last night. He is an incredible presenter who gets the best out of callers.

Members of the public steered the careering police vehicles towards the position of the 3 knifemen. The public played a really positive part in clarifying details and helping the authorities to bring the incident to an astonishingly fast end.

It is clear a shoot to kill policy is now in place for terrorist incidents and that means the public needs to be fully clear-headed, calm and determined when asked to muster themselves and obey area-clearing orders.

I feel great sadness for normal people who happen to be of the Muslim faith in this already testing month of Ramadan. Their burden was doubled last night.

As a few tweeted last night, proper Muslims were breaking an 18 hour fast last night while these killers went out on their spree. It says something about just how ‘Islamic’ they were.

Strange and unnecessary post this from Valerie Painter. Like vanity publishing, for the sake of it. People just act, they don’t muster. What’s a proper Muslim anyway? Its views like this that inflame situations. As for shoot to kill, I thought the first policeman stabbed didn’t even have a gun. Like in the Parliament incident. Or so says Trump anyway.
