A woman from Hove suffered serious back injuries in a crash as she headed towards home down the A23.
A second woman from Hove suffered minor injuries in the crash which led to the road being closed for nearly four hours.
Sussex Police issued an appeal for witnesses today (Monday 22 January).
The force said: “A woman suffered serious back injuries in a collision that closed the A23 southbound at Sayers Common on Saturday afternoon (20 January).
”Emergency services were called to the scene just over a mile south of the junction with the B2118 at 4.01pm, where a Mini One and Citroen C4 Picasso had collided, with the Mini reported to have rolled a number of times.
“The driver of the Mini One, a 53-year-old woman from Hove, who had to be cut from her vehicle, suffered serious spinal injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
”Her passenger, a 54-year-old woman, also from Hove, suffered minor injuries as did the 31-year-old man driving the Citroen and his 29-year-old female passenger, both from Gravesend, in Kent.
”All were taken to hospital in Brighton for treatment.
“The road reopened at 7.45pm.
“Anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have seen the vehicles in the area in the time leading up to it is asked to report online or call 101 quoting Operation Broadstairs.”
