Police have arrested a man on suspicion of carrying out four convenience store robberies in Brighton in three days.
The first two offences took place in Upper Hollingdean Road on Saturday (2 July) and in Preston Drove on Sunday (3 July).
The latest two happened yesterday (Monday 4 July).
Sussex Police said that at about 1.30pm yesterday a man entered N&M Stores in Upper Lewes Road, Brighton, threatened staff with a knife and took cash from the till.
Then at about 5.40pm a man went into St Mary’s convenience store in Upper Hamilton Road, in the Prestonville area, again threatened staff with a knife and took cash from the till.
He also stole some cigarettes.
Nobody was assaulted or injured in either of these incidents.
Detective Inspector Steve Warner said: “We believe these robberies are linked and we made the arrest in a street in Brighton this morning, Tuesday 5 July, as a result of our inquiries.”
The 32-year old local man is currently in custody for interview and for further inquiries to be made.
